The Incedible Everday Life of a Young French Couple Review
The Incredible Everyday Life of a Young French Couple is a 2021 short film directed by Jules Gouillon.
A quirky and fun look into what it means to share a home with someone you love, The Incredible Everyday Life of a Young French Couple has a lot of charm to it that is sure to conjure up memories of the little moments you’ve shared with a significant other.
If nothing else will grab your attention, the bombastic musical interlude of the opening credits certainly will do that with ease. It is an interesting start to a film that revels in so many quiet moments of a young couple, but shows the quirky styling we are soon going to find ourselves in.
One will immediately notice the influence of French New Wave cinema on the piece, with two young lovers who we know little about but draws us in by their spunk and charisma. When the dialogue between these two hits, it comes at a frenetic pacing, which brings a lot of fun to what could easily be more somber moments.
Our two main leads in the film as portrayed by Arthur Gillet and Lea Kaiser are wonderful here, really bringing a lot of charisma to the screen. They have some wonderful line deliver and you can just tell they are both having a lot of fun with their characters.
The one piece that works against the short is the visual quality. While not bad by any stretch of the imagination, it is still a touch on the level with lower end glass or camera systems to capture the footage. However, the story and delivery rise far beyond this minor hurdle.
With that in mind, the audio mixing is great here and the music in the piece is all well implemented, even beyond our attention-grabbing opening.
With so many unique pieces in place, The Incredible Everyday Life of a Young French Couple has a lot of endearing moments throughout. It even has a nice bit of subversion with the ending, where some might see it coming, is still a fun way to cap things off with.
