Debunking Wedding Videography Myths
The Wedding videography market has grown exponentially in the past several years, but do you really need to have a video of your big day? Isn’t there enough to worry about for planning and executing the perfect day? Let us start debunking wedding videography myths and convince you to have a wedding videographer capture the biggest day of your lives!
Myth 1: Picking a videographer at the last minute is ok
We pride ourselves on creating a connection with our clients that goes beyond the day of your wedding. We typically schedule 3 pre-wedding consultations with our clients to create a relationship between client and videographer. We can make sure someone capture beautifully the pieces that matter most to you about your wedding and in a way that speaks volumes about your unique relationship. All the little details are the most important to you and we want to know all the back story and heart that goes into every aspect.
Most couples book their videographer 1 year in advance, after they book their venue. Quality videographers book quickly. Since most of your budget is spent close to your wedding, when you wait until the last minute, you are risking working with a videographer that is untrained in capturing proper audio and visuals just to save a couple dollars.
Budget the same (if not more) for videography as you do for your photographer.
Myth 2: I’ll probably only watch my wedding video once
Wedding videos have changed significantly in the past few years. Wedding videographers use the latest equipment and techniques to create a story that reflects your love and captures the essence of your day with dramatic details and sweeping landscapes.
As for watching it only once, that is up to you. It can be a powerful reminder of the love you share and can spark magic on any date night. We have clients that come back telling us what a special addition their video is to anniversaries and family gatherings. And we all know how touching those Facebook memories can be when they pop up for years to come. Family and friends that shared in the laughter and celebration can enjoy the memories year after year with you. Laughing at cheesy toasts and tearing up over sappy vows, your video will evoke the very emotions you felt throughout your special day.
On another note, videos also serve as powerful marketing tools for the vendors you adored from your special day, from florists to wedding planners, caterers to dress designers, they can use your videos to increase their business and who doesn’t want to support businesses (you hired them after all!)
Myth 3: Photography will be plenty
Some think that having a photographer for their wedding suffices to capture the memories of the day. Where photography is traditionally a staple in weddings, videography is quickly becoming the most desired way to commemorate and preserve the essence of your perfect day. From vows, to toasts, to the first dance, photography just doesn’t do it all justice. And years to come, videos will bring you right back to the feelings and connection over and over.
The audio from vows, letter readings, speeches are the living memories that photography cannot capture. 15 years from now, how amazing will it be to hear your dad’s voice, the laughter from the best man as he is trying to keep a straight face or be able to hear your spouse as they read the letter you wrote them?
Don’t forget to budget the same (if not more) for videography as you do your photographer.
