Better Know An Author – Jacob Davies

Our weekly spotlight series on authors from around the world. This week we sat down with Jacob Davies!

Please give a brief introduction, including your name and where you are based

My name is Jacob Davies, and I am from gloriously gritty Castleford, in beautiful Yorkshire, England. I am pretending to be a poet and a writer.

What book or books have you published or are working on at the moment?

In December 2020, my debut collection ‘The Things They’ve Never Seen’ was released. Since then, I have worked and toiled and cried over my newest poetry collection, ‘Every Night is November’ which is set to release on June 3 this year. I am immensely proud of it. It is my life. Whatever that is.

What drives you to write?

Life’s tendency to be insufferably cruel!

Writing is my way out, my creative outlet, and how I express myself. Without poetry, and without my writing I would simply explode. I write because I must. I have no other choice. It was either this or stamp collecting.

Where can folks find you online and on social media?

I am hidden in the darkest corner of Twitter, @JDaviesWriter

I also have a website, where my new book can be pre-ordered, JDVSWriter.com

What is one piece of advice you would give to another author out there who might be struggling?

That they’re not the only one! As long as you’re happy with your work, and it is true to you, then there is no struggle.

Remember, fulfillment comes from within, and also from houmous.

What are some of your five-year goals with writing?

To become famous and then infamous, and maybe famous again, if there’s time.

In seriousness, there is very little in the shape of a plan. I hope to find just a few people who understand my work to its fullest, see the world the way I do, and help me avoid a padded cell. I have faith!

Final Thoughts?

Hopefully very soon.
