Manasanamaha

Manasanamaha Film Spotlight

Today’s film spotlight focuses on the short film Manasanamaha directed by Deepak.

What is the title of your film and what inspired said title?

“Manasanamaha” – It’s a sanskrit word which is palindrome in its native language, which means “salutations to the mind”. if you watch the film, you’ll understand why I’ve chosen a palindrome.

Tell us a little bit about the story and origins of your film.

The story is about a guy named “surya” (sun), A Young man muses on the nature of love, recounting three relationships from his past. The girls in his life resemble three different seasons, namely Chaitra (Spring), Varsha (Monsoon) and Seeta (Winter).

Any films or filmmakers that inspired this film?

I’ve been a great fan of (500) Days of summer. Scott Neustadter as a writer and Marc Webb as filmmaker of that film have inspired me to make this short.

What is the goal of the film for you?

I wanted to convey an important message that people focus on negative outcomes instead of the happy times they experience in their relationships.

What has the journey been like getting the film into production?

The preproduction was the toughest part as it’s one of the most experimental films one could work on. It was not at all an easy task to work with the cast and crew explaining how difficult it is to produce it. We wrapped the shoot in 5 days, but those were the toughest!

One thing you learned from this project?

A lot of patience and a lot of confidence 🙂

How can folks find you and your film online?

It is available with english subtitles on youtube – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZsTU9ojmpI&t=24s

Any last pieces of advice for fellow filmmakers?

Sometimes a story takes 90-minutes to tell. Sometimes it takes just two. Tell your story.
