Please give a brief introduction, including your name and where you are based

My name is T.L. Coty, and I am a Seattle-based artist, writer, cat-mom, and bibliophile that loves to bring emotion to life with my art (whether in the form or words or brushstrokes).

What book or books have you published or are working on at the moment?

My first published poetry book, Summer Lines: And The Leaves That Fall Behind Them, was recently published.

What drives you to write?

What drives me to write is the need to tell a story and translate emotion into something that people can share, love, and understand. Poetry has always had a special place in my heart, and I think creating a space where people can feel like they are not alone in their own experience is so special, and I hope to pass that onto my readers.

What is one piece of advice you would give to another author out there who might be struggling?

Just write it all down. Even if it’s just a sentence or just one word, even if it seems unfinished or not perfect. Just keep writing your thoughts down and they will create something beautiful. Create your art and allow yourself to share it without it needing to be perfect, and then just keep doing it.

What are some of your five-year goals with writing?

Some of my five-year goals include:

• Continuing to cultivate a community on Instagram and connect with more writers on TikTok/Twitter

• To continue sharing my book & words with people worldwide

• To go to a writers retreat and/or convention
