I decided to start putting together a recap list of the feature length films that I had the chance to check out in the month of March. I am excluding most of the films that I have already put reviews up for at length. I think of this list as more of a quick spotlight for the larger production indie features that are already pretty well covered on the web of the internet. So here is what I watched in March.

Come to Daddy – Come to Daddy is a 2020 feature starring Elijah Wood. The film was directed by Ant Timpson, with writing from Toby Harvard. This was one I found just through researching under the radar films from last year and I am glad I sat down to it. This is a clever film that changes tone throughout in a smart and subversive way. The writing is great and performances are strong, it is a film that grabs you right away, never letting go from start to finish. If you haven’t had a chance to check it out this one comes highly recommended.

The Other Lamb – Another one from the 2020 under the radar list The Other Lamb starts Raffey Cassidy and Michiel Huisman. Directing comes to us courtesy of Malgorzata Szumowsak and writing from Catherine S. McMullen. This is an interesting film that explores a small society of all women under the control of one man who is deemed the “Shepherd,” it is chilling and atmospheric with touches of experimental filming throughout. It had the unfortunate timing of coming out in April of last year, at the height of lockdown so I think a lot of people weren’t able to catch this at launch, however it is well worth seeking out.

The Night of the Hunter – A classic film from 1955 directed by Charles Laughton with writing from Davis Grubb. This movie stars Robert Mitchum and Lillian Gish. What is there to say about this film that hasn’t already been said? It is a cult classic for a reason and the references that have been made to it in the popular culture are vast. If you are a lover of film in any way just go watch it plain and simple. A haunting ahead of its time thriller in every way.
