Filmmaker of the Week Alexandr Borecky

Episode 2 of Filmmaker of the Week with Alexandr Borecky:

Alexandr Borecky was born Czech Republic, and raised in Prague, where he is working on several projects as an actor, writer and director. His debut work is short film Origin (2021), which he wrote, produced, directed and in which he also starred.
While studying at Charles University Alexandr took classes of theatrical improvisation. That’s where he was offered to study at Prague Conservatory of Acting which he eventually refused and continued at Charles University. He left the university three years later, started a proper theatrical training and decided to pursue acting as a career. During this stage of the training he was able to take part in a few theatrical productions in Prague. In 2017 he moved to Los Angeles to get proper on-camera acting training which he received in form of individual classes. After moving back to Europe, Alexandr started writing and focusing on directing.

To read our review of Origin click the link here. A short excerpt from that article:

“The dynamic between Jerry, Andy, and Leo feels relatable while also staying honest. The performances from Lukas Labuda, Jiri Skrivanek, and Alexandr Borecky are all solid. Nothing felt forced and the conversations all felt natural. I could personally relate to an exchange revolving around Tinder, I know I’ve had those conversations with friends in the past.

I felt as though ultimately the film was about knowing when to let go, when to walk away from old friends. We don’t do this out of malice but merely out of going down our own path. Our interests just don’t line up anymore, or we just feel like we need to focus on something different. For whatever reason this happens in life and that is ok. In this Origin delivers a very heartfelt story, one that again has a strong pulse on modern dynamics of the world.”
