Filmmaker of the Week Jean-Philippe Le Coq
Episode 13 of Filmmaker of the Week with Jean-Philippe Le Coq:
Forever 27 is a feature film project currently in its development phase. It’s a woman’s story about music inspired by the 27 club. A “club” of famous people, mostly musicians and artists who died at age 27. It follows a young British talented singer, with a commercial success worldwide, on the edge of destroying her life. Bad company, drugs abuse, drinking problem. Her descent into hell is widely documented by media and she is constantly in tabloids for her nightlife more than her music.
On a path of self-destruction disconnected from her passion and struggling with her latest album, rumours are she is getting closer to be part of the Forever 27 club which includes the likes of Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix or Kurt Cobain.
After a night out, unaware of partying with her half-sister, she wakes up in the mum’s home who abandoned her. The 27-year-old singer might feel lost but accepting help from the mum she never met is a stretch…
Inspired by the life of the 27 club members but also every troubled artist in the history of music Forever 27 explores the influence of media, fame and the music business on the tragic end of these famous young artists.
This psychological music drama is an all-female characters led from the main character’s point of view and focusing on the tension between the mother who gave her young baby to adoption when she couldn’t cope and the journey this baby took to become one of the most successful artists of her time
