Pink Review

Pink is a 2021 short film written and directed by Marianne Mosquera.

A touching and poignant film that rises through a few technical hurdles, Pink is a heartwarming short film about accepting who you are no matter what.

Identity and what that means to all of us is something that we all face at some point in our lives. Some will spend a lifetime trying to find out who we are deep down. It is this question of discovering what that means, when the world wants us to try to fight our true selves, that makes up the heart of the short.

The lessons touched on and the deep inner debate explored in this film can not be understated. This is a truly beautifully written short through and through.

The only hurdles that hold things back a touch is really down to the technical limitations of the film. Some edits are a bit jarring throughout, the audio can be a tad spotty, and the visuals themselves in the color correction most of all can be rough around the edges.

None of it though really holds the film back from telling an honest and heartfelt story. It is wonderful and deeply emotional. This is a showcase for what storytelling can achieve no matter what the issues in the filming process.

Not everything is going to be perfect, nor should we ever expect it to be. This film is a true testament to that in all the best ways.

Serial

Overall Pink is a great short film that tells a touching story in under ten minutes. The writing is great, the characters fully realized, and it delivers a great arc. Despite any of the nitpicks mentioned here there is a ton to love.
