Our weekly spotlight series on authors from around the world. This week we sat down with Steve Altier!

Please give a brief introduction, including your name and where you are based

Steve Altier is a bestselling paranormal, mystery, suspense writer. Known for his multi-award-winning series, The Lizardville Ghost Stories, and bestselling book, The Ghost Hunter. He also has a fun line of middle-grade stories, The Gabby and Maddox adventure series. Several of his works have appeared in the national literary magazine “Story Monsters Ink.”

Steve was born in a small town in central Pennsylvania, aka Lizardville where he grew up in the old dam keeper’s house. He currently lives in Florida with his wife. Steve has four daughters and a house full of cats.

What book or books have you published or are working on at the moment?

The Ghost Hunter is my most recent work. I’m currently working on another Gabby and Maddox adventure, Over the Falls with Gabby and Maddox, where the siblings visit Niagara Falls. I enjoy writing middle-grade chapter books.

What drives you to write?

I’ve always enjoyed telling stories and wanted to be a journalist when I grew up. But life took me in another direction. Now that my children are grown and out of the house, I started following my dreams. It’s my passion for the written word that drives me.

Where can folks find you online and on social media?

I’m all over social media. Here are a few links, and the rest can be found on my website.

What is one piece of advice you would give to another author out there who might be struggling?

You have to read and write daily. Never give up and learn as much about the industry as you can. Never stop learning.

What are some of your five-year goals with writing?

I’d like to write 2 novels a year, going back and forth between my mystery-suspense stories and middle-grade chapter books, and continue to grow my following.

Final Thoughts?

Enjoy the journey no matter how slow it is. Never give up on your dreams.
