Better Know An Author – Davide Seidita

Our weekly spotlight series on authors from around the world. This week we sat down with Davide Seidita!

Please give a brief introduction, including your name and where you are based

My name is Davide Seidita, and I live in Villabate, a little town near Palermo, Sicily. Since when I was a little child, I have fed this strong desire of writing, accompanied by the fairy tales of the Grimm’s brothers, inspired by a big imagination. I had to write my first stories to delight my mother and my sister. When I was 16, I had to leave school for economic problems and I found a job in a grocery shop. The idea of leaving what was my dream left me in a period of depression. Driven by pain, I start writing books about Dave Street, that became a reason for social redemption and, most important, reason of rebirth. I’m still working in the same shop but, at the end of the shift, I go back home and I spend the rest of the evening into my studio, sharing my passion for books, reading and writing in the social media, most of the time Instagram, organizing direct video, stories and publishing posts. I just want to share my life with other people, and tell them that they don’t have to give up on their dreams. If you believe in something, you have to fight with all your heart.

What book or books have you published or are working on at the moment?

I have published two novels by Amazon, “Dave Street e il Mago Pietrificatore” (2016) and “Dave Street e le Segrete di Malkhut” (2017). Both of them, any time soon, will he published by a publishing house. At the moment, I’m working on the third novel of the saga, which is “Dave Street e l’Amuleto di Fuoco”, and will be out next year (2022) by a publishing house “Spazio Cultura Edizioni” of Nicola Macaione. I’m also writing a biography for someone else, like a Ghostwriter of the Dafgan Star Agency.

What drives you to write?

I’m writing for a lot of reasons: I want to improve myself, I do write because I have a message for the world; I do write because I have a story to tell; I do write because I have a dream to come true; I do write because I have so much energy that I need to share with everybody.

What is one piece of advice you would give to another author out there who might be struggling?

My advice will be to shake their ass. Nothing will be done if you don’t get 100% of yourself in what is your dream. I also suggest to be more active on Instagram: is a very opportunity to find a lot of people interested in books and writing. I will also tell them to take their pain and their difficulty and use them as a tools on your dreams. The secret is to use this energy and blow up like a fireworks. Someone, for sure, will see you.

What are some of your five-year goals with writing?

In the next five years, I really hope to publish the next novels of the saga of Dave Street. I have got other project to realize and I really hope to get it done very soon.

Final thounghts? Well, you know Daniel, your gave me seven questions to answers. You have to know that my life is very related to this number (7), and also the saga of Dave Street is made by 7 books, and this number is magic one; and also 7 are the owls in my studio. Very funny, don’t you think?
