Preparing for Your Wedding Video

Preparing for Your Wedding Video

You hired a wedding videographer, but he is only half of the team. You and your groom are the other half. You will need to be prepared and bring some things with you in order to get the best wedding video possible. Your videographer can bring all the best camera and audio gear, but if there are only so-so things to film, he can only do so much. With To Tony Productions, national wedding videography, we wanted to shed some light on preparing for your wedding video.

Personal Notes to Exchange

This is the best way to add to the love story that the video is trying to tell. You can sneak away to a quiet room and read the note aloud with a good microphone and a camera. This footage and audio track will act as a narrator for the video. The note only has to be 2 paragraphs long. Nothing crazy. It should be about your truest feelings and your partner’s most endearing qualities. This can fill in for a lackluster officiant.

A Gift to Exchange

This can be something personal for your partner. Something that you know he will love and something he can open in front of his bridal party. It’s these kinds of details that go a long way to brighten the mood and add to the videos story. Jewelry works nicely, or a collage board of memories of your past together.

Patience for the Movie-Making Process

Most people have never really been in a film and don’t know all of what takes place to make a film. Just realize the videographer may need to ask you to do something twice like putting on your shoes, or a little dance move in order to get the right shot. Movies are almost never taken in 1 shot, so please be aware that taking direction from your video professional only helps you to get the amazing video that you paid for.

Have Your Makeup Artist Near a Window

Clean natural light always looks best. Even though some bridal prep areas have amazing lights and mirrors everywhere, the window will always produce the best lighting for the video. Incandescent lighting looks great for a warm feel and putting on makeup, but when mixed with the bluish window light it will look very unprofessional in the final edit. If need be, you can always just move over to the light afterwards to get a few shots.
