Game Day

Game Day Film Spotlight

Today’s film spotlight focuses on the feature film Game Day directed by Edgar Michael Bravo & John Paul Rice.

What is the title of your film and what inspired said title?

Our film is called GAME DAY…strictly based on the occasion of the day, a Dallas-Philly football game, juxtaposed with the culmination of games and battles the family has waged with each other.

Tell us a little bit about the story and origins of your film.

It is very loosely based on my family, extended and nuclear, as well the families of friends and associates over the years. It explores people in close proximity emotionally and physically trying to do the right thing, meeting expectations and being true to themselves.

Any films or filmmakers that inspired this film?

I’m a huge fan of films in the late 60s and 70s that deal with complicated relationships and realize real people are rarely all good or all bad. Friedken, Coppola, Scorsese, Ashby and Kubrick as well as vintage filmmakers like Capra and Kazan.

What is the goal of the film for you?

To touch people…to tell the truth…to pull no punches…to be seen.

What has the journey been like getting the film into production?

It has been a beautiful series of blessings, fortunate events, happy accidents, close calls and unbridled efforts to do something worthwhile.

One thing you learned from this project?

Perseverance + Talent = LUCK

How can folks find you and your film online?

www.gamedaythemovie.com, Amazon USA and Vimeo

Any last pieces of advice for fellow filmmakers?

Have faith, high hopes and no expectations.  Never quit.  Take it as far as you can everyday and believe. Tell the truth, pull no punches and speak from your heart.  Never fake it.
