Eye for Eye Film Spotlight
Today’s film spotlight focuses on the feature film Eye for Eye directed by Larry Martin.
What is the title of your film and what inspired said title?
EYE FOR EYE is the quote from the Bible, not Eye for an Eye. And more importantly it was the title of my novella adapted for the film.
Tell us a little bit about the story and origins of your film.
The novella was the origin, and I’ve had great success with revenge stories. I kinda think most of us have someone we’d like to “even up” with.
Any films or filmmakers that inspired this film?
I’m an eclectic film fan. Out of Africa, Open Range, Shane, Dr. Zhivago, Master and Commander (probably my all time favorite), One Eyed Jacks, and on and on.
What is the goal of the film for you?
To entertain, same as with my books. Had I wanted to educate I’d have done a documentary. That said, I do my best, with budget limitations, to be historically accurate.
What has the journey been like getting the film into production?
An education. My wife walked in a hundred times and asked, “Are you watching that damn thing again?” And yes, I watched it hundreds of times with the hope of making it better.
One thing you learned from this project?
That I want to do another, tighter, more action, better direction (me), and equally good music which I think is the heart of the film.
How can folks find you and your film online?
It’s been accepted by four streamers so far, but the only one up as of 4/26 is Amazon Prime.
Any last pieces of advice for fellow filmmakers?
You can do it with your iPhone. Story is everything, then sound. If they can’t hear it and understand it they won’t watch. Then just get off your butt and do it. Read my TO HELL WITH HOLLYWOOD on my webpage http://www.eyeforeyewestern.com. Lots of folks want credit for a film, from all specialties. Don’t be afraid to ask friends for help.
