D After C Film Spotlight
Today’s film spotlight focuses on the short film D After C directed by Sandra Elaine and written by Christan van Slyke.
What is the title of your film and what inspired said title?
The title is D After C. It was inspired by the lead characters, Dan and Chrissy, and their relationship of Dan always chasing Chrissy.
Tell us a little bit about the story and origins of your film.
It’s a romantic drama, based on a part of my own life. It’s a highly relatable and emotionally charged snippet of one of the lows of a couple’s on again, off again relationship, 10 year relationship.
Any films or filmmakers that inspired this film?
My own journey was the inspiration.
What is the goal of the film for you?
I wanted to bring awareness to toxic relationships, whether romantic or not. To encourage and inspire others to break the cycle of toxic relationships, seeking the healthier options for their life. Also, I am hoping to show others in similar situations that they aren’t alone and it’s okay and totally possible to break free. That’s why I chose to focus on one of the ugly lows in their relationship. It’s an area people in these situations rarely discuss.
What has the journey been like getting the film into production?
It’s been a long, arduous journey. I actually wrote this film several years ago. And in 2019, decided to dust it off, refresh it a bit and All Dog Entertainment picked it up for production. I thought it absolutely necessary to see this project through until the end.
One thing you learned from this project?
That even the smallest idea can grow into a huge success. This film may have taken years to get through completion, but now, the efforts were well worth it and I better understand why I fought for it for so long. It’s currently being streamed by multiple online platforms and is continuing to be distributed by Filmhub.
How can folks find you and your film online?
I am on Facebook, Instagram and I try to keep my Imdb pages up to date as well for resume purposes.
D After C is available for viewing on Argo- The Home of Short Films and PocketFilms YouTube and Facebook pages. It was recently picked up for streaming on One Hub TV as well!

Any last pieces of advice for fellow filmmakers?
Keep pushing forward toward your goals. As I always say, progress is progress, no matter how small. Just take that next step. And take things a day at a time. Find and surround yourself with those that encourage and support you and your goals. Be cautious and protective of who you collaborate with, make sure to do your research thoroughly. This is your hard work at stake and not everyone will respect that.
