The Squash

Sitting down to chat with Benita Mabel on her podcast The Squash was another fun time. You can listen to the full episode by clicking here. The official episode description:

“Daniel and I talked about his life and the hurdles he had to pass through to get to where he is and what drove him to writing his book.”

The amazing thing about all these interviews is the varied number of folks that I have the pleasure of meeting. Mabel is all the way in the United Arab Emirates which is quite a world away from here in the small town of Baltimore, so even getting the time zones lined up was at first a little tricky, but well worth it.

Again, for those of you who have been following the journey of the book this interview goes into some of my inspirations that lead to my poetry and also just an overview of where I have been in my life.

Since recording this episode there have been some amazing developments in that Just a Boy Blaming Himself has been picked up by several independent bookstores, with many more to come, which has been a dream come true. I also have some first-time events on the horizon as well which is not fully solidified yet but more news on all that soon.

Another big development here has been of course the film reviews that I started to do on the blog. I never thought it would take off the way it has but here we are, with the outreach to the indie film community going amazing. I am so glad that I am able to give a home to some truly amazing independent short films, documentaries, and now even animated films. There is so much talent out there and I am humbled to have the privilege to sit down to such amazing work.

Of course, there will be more podcast episodes to feature as they come out so be on the lookout for that.
