Forgot your Password Review

Forgot Your Password is a 2020 short animated film directed by Clarisse Tronchon, Florian Ojeda Diop, and Manon Mergnat.

Filled with whimsical wonder and light-hearted tone Forgot Your Password delivers on all fronts charmingly with stunning visuals.

From the very beginning, it is easy to tell that you are going to have fun as you sit down to this short film. Combining Aztec style architecture with early 90s computer woes gives a wholly unique style that all blends together so well.

The puzzles presented as our hero journeys through this forbidden temple are nothing new but, in each scenario, we get a fun twist on the formula. With that our nameless hero is great, but her bird companion in its annoying but well-intentioned moments steals the show.

The art style as mentioned is stunning with vivid colors that conjure up memories of The Emperor’s New Groove almost immediately. Maybe that simply boils down to the setting, but it is one that does not get enough love in animation.

The constant computer loading references complete with the struggles of inserting a USB drive (seriously happens every time) brings the piece full circle. There is a presentation of a youthful modern artistic style with timeless elements that any 30 something will surely get a chuckle from. It is always wonderful to see animation that can create a viewing experience easily enjoyed by all ages.
