Lucas Film Spotlight

Today’s film spotlight focuses on the short film Lucas directed by Cho Wut Yee.

What is the title of your film and what inspired said title?

My film title is LUCAS. It is the name of the main actor of the film.

Tell us a little bit about the story and origins of your film.

Lucas is accused of killing his wife. He can’t deny it because he has lost his memory. And when he tries to get it back, his life turns into a nightmare.

Any films or filmmakers that inspired this film?

Lucas film inspired by the Rick and Morty (Mortyplicity) cartoon. After I watched this cartoon, I got an idea for a Lucas film.

What is the goal of the film for you?

Actually, it is for my New York Film Academy filmmaking workshop final project.

What has the journey been like getting the film into production?

Lucas was written, directed and edited by myself. This is my first English language film directed by me. I had many difficulties while shooting this short film. Especially the dialogues in the script, I have double checked with native English speakers. Actors and actresses are all Europeans. So I have to communicate in English. And my camera and sound team are Thai, but I can’t speak Thai that time. But I never give up, I tried to communicate with actors and production team with all kinds of methods. And finally we communicated with the actors and production team well and made a great film.

One thing you learned from this project?

I learned especially about the screenplay and teamwork in this project.

How can folks find you and your film online?
